PRP Therapy

Conveniently located to serve the areas of San Francisco, CA

Physician-guided regenerative therapy designed to support erectile function at the biological level. PRP uses your body’s own growth factors to improve tissue health, enhance responsiveness, and strengthen the foundation of natural erections.

What is PRP for ED?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a regenerative treatment that uses a concentration of platelets derived from your own blood to support penile vascular and tissue health.

In some marketing materials PRP for ED is referred to as the “P-Shot.” Medically, it is simply intracavernosal platelet-rich plasma therapy. PRP is not a drug or medication.

It is a biologic treatment that uses your body’s natural growth factors to support tissue repair and vascular function. The goal of PRP therapy is to improve the health of erectile tissue and optimize blood flow.

How PRP supports erectile function

An erection is primarily a vascular event that depends on healthy blood flow and proper trapping of blood within the erectile chambers.

Three key components must function properly:

  • Healthy penile arteries to deliver blood
  • Healthy smooth muscle within the corpora cavernosa
  • Proper nitric oxide signaling for vascular relaxation

PRP delivers a concentrated amount of your body’s natural growth factors directly into erectile tissue, where they may support tissue repair and vascular function.

How the procedure is performed

The procedure typically takes 30–45 minutes.

Blood Collection

A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, similar to a routine laboratory test.

Platelet Concentration

The blood is processed in a medical centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors.

Targeted Injection

The PRP is then injected into the corpora cavernosa, the erectile chambers of the penis, under sterile conditions.

Potential biological effects

Platelets release a variety of growth factors that may help support erectile tissue by:

  • Improving endothelial function (health of the blood vessel lining)
  • Stimulating angiogenesis, the formation of new micro-blood vessels
  • Supporting smooth muscle integrity within erectile tissue
  • Enhancing nitric oxide signaling
  • Reducing local inflammation

The goal of PRP therapy is vascular optimization, not artificial stimulation. Unlike medications such as PDE-5 inhibitors (Viagra®, Cialis®), PRP does not produce an immediate erection. Instead, it aims to improve erectile function gradually over time.

Who may benefit from PRP Therapy

PRP appears to be most effective in men with early or moderate vascular erectile dysfunction, including:

  • Mild to moderate vascular ED
  • Early diabetes-related ED
  • Men who respond partially to PDE-5 medications
  • Men seeking regenerative or vascular optimization

PRP is generally less predictable in men with:

  • Severe diabetes-related ED
  • Erectile dysfunction after radical prostatectomy
  • Severe venous leak
  • Advanced structural damage to erectile tissue
